Doctor billing problems

Doctor billing problems

Postby PhilWaton on Tue Oct 18, 2005 2:30 am

After receiving allergy shots from an allergy clinic for almost 4 years, 2 shots per week and paying the co pay for each shot and the balance billed to insurance.

Now this doctor has started sending an additional billing dating back to the beginning of the treatment for a vile charge. This billing was done in what I think is a bit strange. Hundreds of pages of individual sheets of paper with each vile charge listed on each sheet for a specific date.

There are no amount totals or cover letter of explanation as to what this is. During the whole time that I was picking up the prepared shots from this Doctors office (Clinic). I always paid the requested amount at check out, which was the co-pay and sometimes the purchase of other vitamins and/or supplements. At no time from the beginning or during the years of treatment did any one say anything about paying this vile charge. In the last 2 months of treatment, the vile charge was added on to the checkout billing and was paid. That is when I started asking why this treatment was lasting far beyond the 2 years that I had been told that it would take to complete treatment. I received either evasive or no answer to these questions. It was then that I stopped this treatment and picking up any more of these shots. I do not seem to have any adverse conditions as a result of this stoppage.

I have not paid any of the vile charges that they have sent in another multi-page packet. I believe that my co-pay and the amount the Dr./Clinic received from the insurance should be sufficient.

If indeed this is something that I should pay then I will, If not than I would like some advise and or comment on this matter. Any information would be most welcome. It looks like the amount will be around $1500.00

Thank you.

Maybe you should think about taking up a career in Medical Billing and coding and setting the system to rights.

You will just have to wait til the insurance pays on the other claim and you will get your money back.
