HOW MUCH MONEY CAN I MAKE WITH JUST CAR ACCIDENTS?
NYS has a population of
18,196,601 with 306,646 motor vehicle accidents and 281,541 people injured or killed in 1998 which means that 1.55% of the population was injured in a motor vehicle accident in 1998. As an example, a large county such as Nassau County (Long Island, NY) has a population of 1,305,057. If 1.55% of the population ofIn 1992 there were 17,417 accidents in NYC involving collisions between a motor vehicle and a bicycle or pedestrian with 313 fatalities (see Collisions and Fatalities in NYC Traffic Accidents). This figure does NOT include accidents involving a motor vehicle with another motor vehicle. Assuming that you would have signed up only one thousandth of these accident victims (1-800-HURT-911® will certainly let you compete among 1,000 attorneys), in one year, you would have signed up 17.41 pedestrian and bicycle accident cases, usually with serious injuries including 0.313 fatalities! Each one of these cases will pay for several years of using 1-800-HURT-911®. In 1994, there were 40,676 fatalities and 3,215,000 injuries in the U.S.
You can see the number of fatal vehicle accidents for your county. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) there were more than 6.8 million police-reported motor vehicle crashes involving fatalities or serious injuries on our highways in 1996--one every 5 seconds. On average, a person was injured in these crashes every 9 seconds, and someone was killed every 13 minutes (see NHTSA National Automotive Sampling System NASS).

WITH MOTORCYCLE
ACCIDENTS
Everyone knows that motorcycle
accidents result in horrific injuries. Motorcycle cases produce the
highest income per hour because of the usually serious injuries sustained and
the limited insurance polices of the tortfeasor vehicle or uninsured
policy. For example, I recently took a case that two other attorneys
turned down, because of bad liability (he was issued a summons for DWI), but my client sustained
injuries worth $450,000. The offending vehicle had a $25,000 policy (GEICO) and I settled
the case for the full policy with 1.5 hours start to finish. That's $5,555
per hour! Even $300,000 policies will settle quickly with such
serious injuries!

TRUCK
ACCIDENTS:
The High
Cost of Truck Accidents
The average cost of a police-reported accident involving a tractor with two or
more trailers is $117,309, according to a study issued recently by the Federal
Motor Carrier Safety Administration. When there is a fatality, the cost
skyrockets to $3.54 million. "Costs of Large Truck- and Bus-Involved
Crashes," done for FMCSA by the Pacific Institute for Research and
Evaluation, uses government crash data from 1988 through 1997. Cost estimates
include medical expenses, emergency services, property damage, lost productivity
and "the monetized value of the pain, suffering, and quality of life that
the family loses because of a death or injury."
