Studies of 800 Vanity Numbers vs 800 Numeric Numbers
According to a study, published 06-25-02 by Response Marketing Group, after listening to a radio spot only one time, 58% of listeners could remember an 800 vanity toll free number (a number like 1-800-HURT-911 which spells something), while only 8% could remember an 800 toll free numeric number which did not spell anything, such as 1-800-487-8911. Additionally, while 58% of listeners could remember a vanity number using the 800 exchange, only 41% of listeners could remember numbers from the newer toll free exchanges - 888, 877, and 866. Just as important, 95% of listeners knew that 800 numbers are toll free, however, only 33% of listeners knew that 877 is toll-free and only 18% knew that 866 is toll-free.
According to Response Marketing Group, the results of a 1999 study, focusing on the use of toll-free numbers in actual radio advertising, showed that an advertisement using a toll-free vanity number (a number that translates into words for easy recall) yields 14 times more phone calls than an advertisement using a toll-free numeric number. Two 60 second identical advertisements, one with an 800 vanity number and one with an 800 numeric number, were each run a total of 33 times and were equally rotated throughout all dayparts on the same radio station in New Jersey. The ad with the 800 vanity number received 93% of all the calls, while the ad with an 800 numeric number received only 7% of the calls.

Q: How will a brand be created for 1-800-HURT-911®?
A: Branding will take advantage of the two parts of the number, HURT and 911. 1-800-HURT-911® will be branded as the number to call when you're seriously HURT and you need a lawyer FAST.
Q: Will I need a new phone number exclusively for receiving calls from 1-800-HURT-911®?
A: No. You can use any existing telephone number in your office as the terminating (receiving) line. You should use a telephone line that can roll calls over to another telephone line when the terminating line is busy, so the call can still be answered in your office. If you use a call center, calls will be immediately re-routed to the call center if your line is busy and the call is not "rolled over" to a second line.
Q: If I use an existing phone line in my office which has voice mail, will this affect my voice mail?
A: Voice mail will raise problems when you re-route calls to the call center during office hours when you fail to answer the call. Calls will be re-routed to the call center during office hours after 4 rings. If your voice mail picks up on 4 rings or less, than the call can not be re-routed to the call center. After office hours, calls will be directly routed to the call center from the telephone company and will not ring in your office, so your voice mail will not affect use of the call center after office hours.
Q: What is Personal Injury Call Intake & Analysis®?
A: Personal Injury Call Intake & Analysis® is our proprietary software that works with the call center and which analyzes the information taken by the call center operator to determine the probability of whether the caller has a minor injury or a serious injury. If the software believes a caller has a minor injury, the information is sent in a report sent to your email account and your fax machine with a subject line that says "NEW CLIENT CALL FROM 1-800-HURT-911". If the software detects a caller has a serious injury, the report is sent as indicated below. This software is only used when a call center answers the call. Use of Personal Injury Call Intake & Analysis® is optional and is FREE, however, taking all the information will involve more operator time than just taking a name, telephone number and address. Call center operator time is not free and is billed to you directly by the call center. The software resides on our server and can be utilized by any call center that provides you with a DID (Direct Inward Dial) number and uses internet connected computers for their operators.
Q: What are Serious Injury Alerts®?
A: Serious Injury Alerts® are reports sent as an alert to your email account, fax machine AND mobile device capable of receiving email. These alerts are the same reports sent with all calls, however, they are only sent when the call center is used and the Personal Injury Call Intake & Analysis® software detects a caller has a serious injury. The email reports have a subject line that says "SERIOUS INJURY ALERT FROM 1-800-HURT-911". Serious Injury Alerts® are also included FREE. Example: Someone with a serious injury calls 1-800-HURT-911® on Saturday; In seconds, you get a Serious Injury Alert® on your Blackberry® which provides you with all the information you need. You call the client and make arrangements to sign up the case. See an actual email report (name and tel # slightly changed). I received this report, for a case worth $500,000, on a Saturday. I returned the call and made an appointment to visit the client on Sunday and signed up the case. You don't want to find out about a case like this on Monday!
Q: What type of device can I use to receive Serious Injury Alerts®?
A: You can use any number of devices such as PDA's, cell phones, and other devices, however, I recommend Blackberry® because the technology it uses makes it the most reliable method of receiving email. Additionally, the 957 has a rechargeable battery which lasts a week or longer and the 950 uses AA batteries which are small enough to carry a spare. It has been reported that as much as 17% of text messages sent to cell phones disappear without ever being delivered and cell phone batteries don't last long when you use the phone a lot. Luck will dictate that the caller with a million dollar case will call just when your battery dies. The monthly service charge for a Blackberry can cost $35 for a light user or $40 for a heavy user. The RIM Blackberry® will work on either the Cingular network or the Motient network. I recommend the Cingular network which seems to have better coverage. Q: Can I receive all call reports, not just Serious Injury Alerts®, on my mobile email device?
A: Yes, if you want to be bothered nights and weekends with calls thought to involve non-serious injuries.
Q: Can I see the commercials?
A: There are several commercials being produced by Inter/Media Advertising in their own studio and post production facility. Due to ethics rules, you are required to view the commercials before you can participate and you must sign a form stating that you have done so. You will, therefore, be able to see the commercials as soon as they have been completed and prior to broadcasting.
Q: Will I be able to have a copy of the advertising schedule so I know when to expect calls?
A: You will be faxed broadcasting schedules, however, people tend to remember 1-800-HURT-911® and you may get calls at any time of the day or night. Programming changes occur frequently and you will be faxed new schedules as soon as possible after the scheduling change.
